> [!info] This is excerpted from the [[What Is Grail Diary|Grail Diary]] entry for [[2024-01-01-Mon (1)|1st January 2024]]. I should perhaps mention how I (re)discovered **[[Obsidian]]** this Christmas of 2023. It was, as usual, a “lucky coincidence” – although, as Mike Dooley or Karl May would confirm, there *is* no such thing as “lucky coincidence”. What happened was that I, a couple of days after Christmas, “quite accidentally” happened to take a *closer* look at the **[BookFusion](https://www.bookfusion.com)** (!) email newsletter that happened to arrive then. I usually just *skim* it, being too busy to actually *read* it. What has BookFusion to do with Obsidian? Absolutely *nothing*! It’s an *e-reader* or *books management* software, for heaven’s sake! But that’s *exactly* the point! So, when I “accidentally” happened to notice, in that newsletter (or on a webpage after clicking a link in that newsletter? – I no longer remember), the mention of *Obsidian*, this really made me raise my eyebrows. It turns out the folks at BookFusion are preparing an “official” BookFusion **plugin** for Obsidian. I know that Dean, the BookFusion boss, is an astoundingly smart guy. If *he* believes that **Obsidian is worth developing a plugin for** – then *I, too,* must *finally* take a look at it: 2 or 3 years after it was first launched. And here I am! ✌️ (I was reluctant to take a look at it previoiusly, being “sour” – or “jealous”, you might say – that Erica & Shida abandoned **[Dynalist](https://dynalist.io/)**, the perhaps top crucial app for my life, in favor of developing Obsidian. Seeing its qualities first-hand now, I can fully understand why they did it. Still, I find tremendous use for *both* of them *simultaneously*, even though Obsidian can now take over a *large* portion of what I used to record in Dynalist until now – but *not everything*, it appears. See my [Dynalist forum post](https://talk.dynalist.io/t/are-you-staying-with-dynalist/8528/13) about this.)
